Black book
Sheetpile Structures are built from the bottom up, but designed from the top down. This book provides designers, contractors, engineers and other users with information to help enable the selection of the most efficient and cost-effective steel sheet pile sections for the typical shoring or a bulkhead construction in North America, Europe and beyond.
How to Use This Book
Guide to understanding sheet pile specifications and selection
The following pages along with our website at sheet-pile.com will enable you to select the optimum metal sheet pile sections.
This book contains examples of many different sheet pile sections, but there maybe near infinite amount of O-Pile® (and other systems options) so we show a representative sampling of each type of systems.
If you have a particular part or specific sections you want to utilize that are not in the book we can always quickly make a designs for you using these parts. The contents is comprehensive guide, but does not contain every possible option at our disposal.
Choose the right sheet pile system based on your project requirements
Start with Z-Pile: Flexibility and Efficiency
Multiple Z-Pile sections and configurations provide the most economical solutions typically up to the 113.6 in³/ft² (6105 cm³/m). After which point you may want to consider an OZ Pile, IZ Pile, I-Pile® or O-Pile® system.
Grow into O-Pile®, OZ Pile or IZ Pile
There are occasions when a Z-Pile system is not sufficiently strong to satisfy the calculated bending moment, or may not be able to be installed in the given ground condition effectively. When this is the case, the designer has many available options using the proven ball and socket system with an O-Pile®.
When should I consider using an O-Pile® system?
High Strength Requirements
When you need a sheet pile section that is stronger than a 113.6 in³/ft² (6105 cm³/m) level under normal soil conditions.
Challenging Ground Conditions
When you need to install a wall into rock or cobbles or glacial till and you cannot install a Z-Pile.
Enhanced Corrosion Resistance
O-Pile® is more corrosion resistant than a Z-Pile, OZ Pile or IZ Pile system. See the O-Pile® section for more details.
Long-Term Structural Integrity
For projects requiring extended service life and minimal maintenance in harsh environmental conditions.
