East Side Coastal Resiliency Project

HUNDREDS OF O-PILE® SYSTEMS INSTALLED FOR CLIMATE RESILIENCE

The ESCR Project is a coastal protection initiative that aims to reduce flood risk due to coastal storms and sea level rise on Manhattan's East Side. Manhattan’s East Side waterfront is being rebuilt to protect parks and communities across 2.4 miles of Manhattan’s East Side from East 25th Street to Montgomery Street.

The Challenge

Troubleshoot and solve ongoing spacing issues that arise, and supply special systems and connecting elements to ensure the project’s effectiveness.

Interesting Facts

Hundreds of O-Pile® in varies sizes have been used, most of which were installed via impact and vibration hammers.

Many OZ systems were used as well, with extra long WOF XL connectors in between 42" x70 king pile systems using PZC as the intermediate sheet pile. Typical length of these systems was over 80' with intermediate sheets being about 75% the length of the main load bearing king pile element.

Over the first few years of this project, countless spacing issues have been identified and solved, requiring the supply of special systems and connecting elements.

Once work begins a project, situations often arise that require innovative and creative solutions. We partner with our clients to identify the most cost-effective and efficient systems to ensure your project meets load bearing and life span requirements.
